This is possible because the Council is a collective. Together, we can do hard things and navigate hard times…because we already have!
Seattle Budget Witness
Our Seattle Budget Cycle Roundtable showed up for the city budget meeting in even larger numbers than before, making it clear through word and witness that budgets are a moral document! Join us for two Seattle Budget Forums!
Understanding Forced Migration
The Council held a forum entitled Understanding Forced Migration, centering the lived experiences of Daniel, Adriana, and Don, and facilitated by Flor. Our panelists encouraged continued support of newly arriving migrant communities and work towards true inclusion in society.
Church Council Rejects CB 120844-5
As part of our Seattle Budget Cycle Organizing work, the Church Council submitted testimony to Seattle City Council, urging them to reject CB 120844 and 1208445 to install CCTV and new RTCC surveillance software.
The Church Council & Organized Labor
This past month, we joined UFCW 3000 for their Stop the Merger Rally, and we partnered with faith and labor organizations to host a Faith + Labor Reunion, reigniting relationships and building power between faith communities and labor unions.
Faith Land Initiative kicks off the '24-'25 Cohort and Judicatory Convenings!
On September 5th, we hosted a Welcome Reception and Cohort Reunion for incoming faith communities for the 2024-2025 Faith Land Discernment Cohort, and members of our larger Faith Land Initiative network. On September 17th, we convened an initial gathering of judicatory leaders, representing four mainline Christian denominations, to build power around faith land in our region.
Faith + Labor Reunion
Join the Church Council, Faith Action Network, APRI Seattle, and our friends at SEIU6, Unite Here Local 8, UFCW 3000, and MLK Labor for a Faith & Labor Reunion on Sunday, September 29, from 2-4 PM! Together we'll build solidarity this election season and beyond!
