Immigration Organizing

Our immigration organizing is grounded in the values of mutual accompaniment, convivencia (coexistence), and solidarity in action.

Grupo de Solidaridad (Solidarity Group) is the Church Council’s primary means of immigration organizing. Our work is rooted in the lived experiences of people impacted by the immigration system, and we collaborate with organizations led by impacted communities. This is a space where people from different backgrounds come together and connect with others who are new to our community, meeting monthly for convivencia. Together, we work on mobilizing resources, community organizing, coordinating campaigns for immigrant justice, and accompanying people navigating immigration cases in the Greater Seattle area.

Many people from our community are immigrants from Mesoamerica (Central America, Mexico and the Caribbean) who have crossed over to U.S. territory, but anyone navigating the immigration system and seeking shared community is welcome, as well as community allies.
