Faith Land Initiative kicks off the '24-'25 Cohort and Judicatory Convenings!

On September 5th, we hosted a Welcome Reception and Cohort Reunion for incoming faith communities for the 2024-2025 Faith Land Discernment Cohort, and members of our larger Faith Land Initiative network.

We broke bread virtually and in-person, as leaders shared lessons from their own discernment processes, answered questions from new faith communities, and provided updates on the transformative actions their faith communities are taking. We all left the event with bellies full of pizza and minds full of new ideas for faithfully and equitably stewarding land!

On September 17th, we convened an initial gathering of judicatory leaders, representing four mainline Christian denominations, to build power around faith land in our region. This convening came out of conversations with local faith communities, judicatory leadership, funders, and government officials, all naming the desire for judicatory bodies to collaborate across faith traditions and organize support for local faith communities in stewarding their land. Our goals for the convening were for leaders to build relationships with each other, establish a shared strategy, and share resources.

We closed the Convening with a plan for the group to meet again in the new year and expand the invitation to more judicatory leaders. Please contact E.N. if you are interested in participating in the next one!
