Support Migrants in WA State: Contact Your Legislators Today
Since October, we have been working in coalition with 30+ community groups responding to the needs of newly arriving migrants across our region, led by Washington Immigrant Solidarity Network (WAISN), OneAmerica, Congolese Integration Network (CIN), and Low Income Housing Institute (LIHI) in consultation with the Washington State Coalition of African Community Leaders.
As the coalition has worked to meet people's immediate needs, we have also been advocating for resources and systemic change at local and state levels. Please join us in contacting your state legislators in support of a $25M budget proviso dedicated to the Office of Refugee and Immigrant Assistance in order to support housing, food, employment education, and legal services for asylum seekers. These funds would also support administrative costs for coordinating a statewide approach.
