Las comunidades migrantes en Estados Unidos enfrentan hoy una situación grave: persecución, captura de personas sin antecedentes penales (incluso en ciudades santuario), deportaciones masivas a países de tránsito sin el debido proceso, separación de familias -niños que se quedan sin sus padres en Estados Unidos o son enviados a sus países de origen-, violación de espacios que antes eran seguros como escuelas y comunidades de fe, la terminación del TPS, y muchos otros intentos de causar miedo y confusión.
A esto se suman las constantes amenazas del presidente Trump de encarcelar a las autoridades que no colaboren con estos procesos de captura de migrantes. El país entero enfrenta confusión debido a otras decisiones como la suspensión de ayuda federal a programas sociales, el cierre de operaciones de USAID y el intento de quitar la ciudadanía por derecho de nacimiento. Estas situaciones han estado presentes en nuestras vidas desde el 20 de enero, y todo parece indicar que lo estarán durante los próximos 4 años.
Sin embargo, todavía hay muchos millones de personas que están en contra de estas violaciones de los derechos humanos y de los intentos de dividir aún más a nuestras comunidades. Hay miles de organizaciones que están alzando su voz para denunciar las injusticias, priorizando a las personas perseguidas y en mayor vulnerabilidad.
En este momento en el que todos sentimos frustración y desesperanza, es el momento en el que debemos reafirmar nuestra fe y solidaridad, debemos organizarnos en defensa de nuestros hermanes que son los más afectados por estas amenazas y desesperanza. Es hora de pasar de la reflexión a la acción, de enraizarnos en nuestros valores mientras combatimos el racismo y la xenofobia.

Migrant communities in the United States today face a dire situation: persecution, the capture of people without criminal records (including in sanctuary cities), mass deportations to transit countries without due process, separation of families - children who are left without their parents in the United States or sent to their countries of origin, violation of spaces that were once safe such as schools and faith communities, the termination of TPS, and many other attempts to cause fear and confusion.
Added to this are the constant threats from President Trump to imprison authorities who do not collaborate with these processes of capturing migrants. The entire country is facing confusion due to other decisions such as the suspension of federal aid to social programs, the closing of USAID operations, and the attempt to take away birthright citizenship. These situations have been present in our lives since January 20th, and everything seems to indicate that they will be present for the next 4 years.
However, there are still many millions of people who are against these violations of human rights and attempts to further divide our communities. There are thousands of organizations that are raising their voices to denounce the injustices, prioritizing people who are being persecuted and in greater vulnerability.
At this time when we all feel frustration and hopelessness, now is the time when we must reaffirm our faith and solidarity, we must organize in defense of our siblings who are most impacted by these threats and hopelessness. It is time to move from reflection to action, grounding ourselves in our values as we combat racism and xenophobia.
