From climate change-fueled disasters to political violence, our siblings across the globe are in crisis. Below are a few ways to lend concrete support to the safety and wellbeing of our siblings in Afghanistan and Haiti, two nations experiencing two very different yet equally world-shattering crises.

Our prayers and solidarity are with our human family the world over as we work together toward a safe, just future for us all.

Afghanistan

Volunteer with Lutheran Immigrant & Refugee Services

“We are calling for volunteers to support incoming Afghan Allies, Special Immigrant Visa holders, who are being evacuated to the United States. Afghan Allies are currently arriving in the following cities; however, we want to be ready to welcome these families wherever they go! If you are able to volunteer your time to help with services like airport pick-ups, apartment set-ups, or bringing a meal, please sign-up using the button that represents your region or sign-up for the general stand-by list.”

Donate directly to the cost of flights to evacuate whole family units from Kabul through “Flyaway: Emergency Afghan Rescue Mission”

“We are coming to you in desperation to conduct an emergency flight rescue of 300+ Afghan souls. I have been working alongside humanitarian aid groups, decorated military veterans, and activists on the ground in Kabul, fighting to save people who otherwise have no chance at survival in the Taliban-occupied Kabul.”

Haiti

Places to Donate:

Grassroots International –  “Through our partnerships in Haiti, Grassroots International aims to: promote sustainable food production and its equitable distribution; foster opportunities for solidarity economies that promote community-based sustainable livelihoods, especially for women; strengthen grassroots communities’ capacities to become the authors of their own future; secure human rights as outlined in the Haitian constitution and the UN Declaration; and contribute to climate justice and the restoration of Haiti’s natural environment as a key component of food sovereignty.

Grassroots International currently provides support to the following organizations in Haiti:

Doctors Without Borders –Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) teams are on the ground in Haiti providing medical care. We are responding to the emergency in the cities of Port-Salut, Les Cayes, and Jérémie, assessing the needs in other areas, and preparing to send in additional medical equipment, essential items, and medical teams to help care for the injured. “Our current priorities are, above all else, to get a precise idea of the medical situation, to provide direct care to the injured when we can, or to refer them to functional medical structures once we ensure they are stabilized,” says Alessandra Giudiceandrea, head of mission for MSF in Haiti. Whenever possible, MSF medical teams help refer the injured to functional health facilities. “

Catholic Relief Services“When you give, you provide immediate assistance for our Haitian sisters and brothers desperate to survive this devastating situation. Your help will deliver immediate relief.”
