Curry Temple CME Church will be hosting a Standing Strong in Praise event, You are welcome to join some or all of the day’s activities.

Since April of 2016 Curry Temple CME has experienced a string of reported and unreported hate crimes, and the congregation is determined not to show fear, “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind,” 2 Timothy 1:7.

To demonstrate solidarity and support for the congregation of Curry Temple CME, people from all faith communities and walks of life are invited to attend a special worship service on Sunday January 29th, 2017 at 11am, a panel and dialogue led by members of the African American community, and concluding with a Praise Service at 3pm.  These events are open to all!

Amidst the sobering changes in today’s political climate, stand with us as we face the mighty Moabites and Ammonites of hatred and racism, singing like the army of Jehoshaphat:

Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. You will not have to fight this battle. Take up your positions; stand firm and see the deliverance of the Lord.” 2 Chronicles 20, NIV

The Church Council of Greater Seattle thanks Rev. Beverly Jackson and Curry Temple CME Church for welcoming the broader faith community for its worship service and conversation.  In such a time as this, people of diverse faiths have a renewed opportunity to come together, pray, learn from one another and receive strength to build the Beloved Community.  We urge people of faith to share in this special occasion, to spread the word, and to continue to unite as communities of reconciliation and justice.
