Young people’s views of gender beyond a binary presents a sea change in the way we understand our identity, community, and theology. The ways youth understand and live into their gender offer rich ground for new ways of being for the Church, if we recognize their wisdom. Together we will explore where binary understandings of gender and sexuality came from and the harm they have caused in our understanding of ourselves and of God. We will investigate the ways our practices of ministry have been limited by binary approaches, and how we might shift our ministries beyond a binary towards a vision of an abundant God.
