As immigrants, we have been some of the hardest hit by the COVID-19 pandemic. To keep our communities healthy and safe, we need to support each other right now. That’s why immigrant organizations worked with Washington State to get funding for immigrants who can’t access federal aid.

 

To apply for the relief fund:

  • You must live in Washington

  • You must be at least 18 years old

  • You must have been significantly affected by the pandemic (such as losing work, contracting the virus, or caring for a family member who contracted it)

  • You must not be eligible to receive federal stimulus funds or unemployment insurance because of immigration status. Refugees, asylum seekers, COFA migrants, and DACA applicants are not eligible for the fund, since they can usually receive federal funds and unemployment benefits.

  • Your household must be low-income. This means that your household has an annual income that is below 250% of the federal poverty line. The maximum income to qualify for the fund depends on the size of your household.

What you need to apply:

  • Documents proving your residency and identity. Visit immigrantreliefwa.org/faq to see the full list.

  • Access to an email address. Make sure you know your email and password. If you share an email address with someone, you can both use that email to apply.

  • Access to a phone number that can receive texts. We will send you texts about the status of your application. Your application ID will be included in your confirmation text when you submit your application.

  • Your household income for the last 30 days and the last 12 months. The application will ask you to report your household income for the previous 30 days as well as the total amount your household has earned in the last year. While we will not be collecting any documents, you will provide a self-attestation. A self-attestation means that you will be certifying that your information is true, correct, and genuine.

 

What you need to know:

  1. It is safe to apply! The fund is supported and funded by the Washington Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS), but your information will not be shared with the government, ICE, your landlord, or your employer. This does not affect public charge.

  2. You can easily apply online by yourself! Visit apply.immigrantreliefwa.org to apply. If you need help, you can contact a community partner or call the WAISN hotline at 844-724-3737 every day from 6am-9pm. Please be patient, as we are receiving a high volume of calls.

  3. It is always free to apply! Don’t pay a notario or someone to help you apply. It will not guarantee approval or speed up the process.

  4. Apply early! The application closes on May 15th, but it may close earlier if spots are filled.

  5. Only submit ONE application per person! Take your time and carefully enter your information. Small mistakes such as typos or entering the wrong zip code will be corrected. Even if your information changes, do NOT submit a new application.

  6. Keep your application ID! To check on the status of your application, you will need your phone number, e-mail address, and application ID, which you will receive over email and text after you submit the application.

  7. If approved and awarded, all payments will be sent out by June 30, 2021! Checks and gift cards may take two to three weeks to receive in the mail.
